We all know that chocolate biscuits are the ones that disappear from the tin first. Whether your vice is a chocolate chip cookie, you have more of a penchant for plain choc biscuits, or you can’t get enough of chocolate digestives, try adding your favourite to a new recipe or making a homemade version of your favourite.
In my family we love chocolate , everyone is obsessed with everything chocolate- So it is no surprise that we gravitate towards chocolate biscuits.
Lately the ‘flake biscuit’ trend has been doing the rounds, and although I am slightly delayed — I tried to give it a go.
I must admit it is definitely not one of my favorite biscuits and although the dough was pretty standard to make, I did not feel the cutting of the biscuit, getting it to the perfect width (by trial and error) was worth the effort. But don’t let that stop you from giving this biscuit a go.
1 cup icing sugar (sifted)
1/4 cup of oil
2 Tablespoons cocoa
roughly 2- 2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup mazeina (cornflour)
3 flakes (optional- as it doesnt affect the biscuit much)
cream the butter and sugar , add in 1 tsp vanilla essence (optional) and add in the oil
sift the dry ingredients together and add to the butter mixture to make a soft dough. and in the flake.
roll out onto a flake surface and cut the biscuits into the flake width and shape.
bake on 180 degrees Celsius for 10-15 minutes.
Let the biscuits cool and then decorate with melted chocolate and flake.
